Dell’Oro Group Forecasts 4 Gbps HBA Sales to Eclipse 2 Gbps by Late Summer 2006
Redwood Shores, Calif. – February
16, 2006 – According to a recently published report by Dell’Oro Group,
the trusted source for market information about the networking and telecommunications
industries, port shipments of Fibre Channel HBAs rose 10 percent sequentially in the
fourth quarter 2005, and 4 Gbps products contributed significantly to the growth.
"Four Gbps HBA sales gained traction
this past quarter, largely because products have passed reseller testing and
approval processes," said Tam Dell'Oro, President of Dell'Oro Group. "For example,
Emulex's 4 Gbps sales more than quadrupled during the fourth quarter, having won
some key reseller customers, like Sun Microsystems," added Dell’Oro.
As can be viewed in the report, Dell’Oro
Group forecasts healthy double-digit port shipment growth for Fibre Channel
HBAs during 2006. "Although iSCSI products have begun shipping, early
signs point to iSCSI sales being additional to Fibre Channel sales, not substitutive," said Dell'Oro.
