Enterprise Customers Opt for Higher Priced Wireless LAN Equipment
First Quarter Sales Boosted by Strong Uptake of Enterprise-Class 802.11n Products
Redwood City, Calif. – June 5, 2008 –
According to a recently published report from Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the networking and telecommunications industries, enterprise customers are opting for higher priced 802.11n and dual-radio 802.11a/g equipment to supplement their wireless LAN environment. The strong shift to these products resulted in sales revenues increasing sequentially while overall enterprise-class units declined.
“Enterprise customers are rethinking their wireless LAN deployments as new 802.11n equipment options become available,” said Ben Kwan, Analyst of Wireless LAN research at Dell’Oro Group. “In particular, the dual-radio feature increases the amount of bandwidth per user as well as the potential number of users covered. Both Cisco and Aruba Networks have benefited from the market’s acceptance of the higher priced wireless LAN equipment,” added Kwan.
The report also details why the enterprise-class wireless LAN equipment market is forecasted to rebound in the second half of the year growing to a level 25 percent above 2007 levels.
